BUG: Cut scene camera stuck under terrain in Prologue: Bound by Blood, chapter 'A Race to Arms'

I started playing the Icebrood Saga today, and toward the end of the 'A Race to Arms' chapter, in the 'Prologue: Bound by Blood' episode, there's a cut scene where the camera gets stuck under the terrain. I was unable to see anything happening in the scene other than looking up at NPC's feet.

Approximate date/time: 11/19/2020 5:35pm PST
Map name: Grothmar Valley - Shiverpeaks Pass
Character: Takimoto Kaoru, level 80, human, thief
Playing solo

No real steps to repeat, I just played through the story, twice, with the same result each time. There's no combat before this scene, just some NPC dialogue and walking slowly, sometimes being stopped by wind gusts, and I wasn't using any kind of speed boost skill.

System specs -
OS: Windows 7 64bit
GPU: GeForce GTX 970
Driver version: 456.38
CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1100T
16GB RAM
1920 x 1080, 60Hz resolution

Have to Constantly Repeat Major Story Events

This has been going on for a few years and frankly it's turned me off doing the Story quests. Anytime I do one of the longer Story missions that has a cutscene at the end, like tonight with "Defend Fort Trinity", at the very end of the event the game client disconnects and I have to start the mission from scratch. This has been happening over and over and over for years and I'm just disgusted with wasting my time and effort doing these long, frequently tedious, Story missions only to be forced to do them again in order to progress. It's utterly stalled my progress with the Story to the point I have practically given up. I have Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire, but I haven't complete either due to the constant frustration of the game client crashing.

Am I utterly alone in this happening? Is it a known bug the developers can't resolve? Am I doomed to "Groundhog Day" my way through the Story missions?

I'm sorry if this sounds like a rant, but I'm just really ticked off right now.

Champions/DRMs instance owner leaving, no loot

Found out the hard way, when the instance owner leaves party directly after getting the bouncy-chests; the remaining party members get the boot so fast that its near impossible to get the loot-chest.

Maybe:

  • allow squads to join (10 or 50, but only 5players can join)

    • make another 'squad type' of 5
  • convert instance to Dungeon/Fractal type => but enable mounts? (maybe allow mounts in home instance with this fix)

  • send participants a mail like in Raids/Strikes when the loot-chest goes unlooted, and player leaves instance

or all of the above?

Solo DRM Instances Scaling Still off

The hotfix for Champion HP yesterday seems to have work, the rest of mobs however still have huge amounts of HP.

Not to mention the burster spam (terrible design, please limit them) which also seem to have HP comparable to a 5 man instance with the regular enemy challenge active.

action cam + customise window = can't do anything

How to be unable to interact with anything in gw2, forcing you to ctrl + alt + del into task manager:

Step 1: Activate action camera
Step 2: Get a piece of gear from the inventory or hero ui window and customise it's stats
Step 3: Press on the search bar in the customise stats window, type in it for good measure
Step 4: Press esc (requires esc to close ui windows option on)
And now you can only look at the world around you and the customise window

In this state, the esc key closes the inventory window or hero window from which you selected the item to customise - but the customise window does not prevent action camera from reactivating, meaning you can now look around with your mouse pointer.... and that's all. Press any button and the game will attempt to write in the search bar - you can't esc to close the window, and with no way to open any UI windows (as it will try to type in the search bar instead), the only option is to ctrl/alt/del task manager close gw2 and restart.

/am good at short titles.

Champions LFG 10 to 5

Please consider changing ASAP the settings for Champions LFG which is a 10 squad as it must be a 5 group...

When you create a group, want to start and the other can't join you, it's a little... Disturbing...

Timing Issues in "Forging the Pact"

These were just some weird things I noticed while I was trying to solve another issue with the personal story quest "Forging the Pact". (The other issues was I kept getting disconnected during a certain cutscene; the solution to that one was to update my graphic drivers.) None of these small bugs make the quest unplayable, though I thought they may be related to the technical issues people often have with this quest. I couldn't fit these all into one of the ingame bug reports, so instead it goes here!

--When Messenger Nelson runs up to the fort, he doesn't immediately appear onscreen: the camera is looking at empty ground until he comes through the gate, then poof, he's suddenly there.
--When I get to the ruins and just before Trahearne starts his dialogue cutscene, I get teleported behind a bush nearby. (Normally this is hidden because the cutscene starts first? Just a guess.)
--It took maybe a half minute delay for the quest to register that I'm in the green circle for the "search for survivors" step. This doesn't seem to be dependent on where I or the NPCs are standing, though may have something to do with killing the last of the mobs up a side path.
--The first barricade that blocks the way to the asura disappears while I'm completing the "search for survivors" step. However, in other play-throughs I've had it it explode or disappear just as I'm running up to it after "search for surviviors" is over. Trahearne will then comment about "another barricade" while running over the place where it was, which came across as a non-sequitor to me ("I only saw the one?" or "You mean the non-existent one we just trampled over?")
--After Agent Zrii blows up the crates blocking the tunnel entrance, it takes her maybe a half-minute to say "Boom! That ought to do it!" (Everything else in this part triggers on time.)
--Trahearne jumps right into his ritual to summon his minions when his voiceovers makes it sounds like I need to do a quest step to protect him from some waves of mobs first. Not that I'm complaining about that!
--In this same scene, one of Trahearne's voiceovers differs from his dialogue. "This will require no small effort..." only has "My minions will aid in our escape.." actually voiced.
--The brown asura, Dobbs, is hunched over in the dialogue cutscenes. (Intentional?)
--When I get close to exiting the cave, more risen grubs spawn behind me. (Intentional?)


macOS 64-bit client: Ash Legion carvings not visible

Four symbols inscribed on the top he small table to the right of Malice in Ash Legion camp (Grothmar Valley) are not visible in macOS native (64-bit) client.
There is no problem in old 32-bit client (which I still have), so I'm absolutely positively sure I was looking at the correct table (and I tried to set graphic settings to be exactly the same)

Please post in this thread if you come across a significant bug related to the textures, placement, or effects for the following:

  • Armor/clothing
  • Weapons
  • Character models

General Guidelines

  • Take a screenshot of the issue
  • Take a screenshot of your equipment on the Hero Panel (H)
  • Host on an image hosting site, such as Imgur, GYAZO, Lightshot, Flickr, TinyPic, etc.
  • If you have a video of the issue, upload to YouTube (unlisted)
  • Post the image or video link(s) in your report
  • Describe the problem
  • List your Race, Sex, and Profession

If the issue relates to clothing/armor/weapons

  • List the names and level requirement of every piece of armor/clothing/weapon that your character had equipped when you encountered the issue
  • If you can, list where you acquired the item -- which NPC, what map location, which dungeon, etc.

Note on clipping issues: While we understand that players would like us to eradicate all clipping issues, some minor issues cannot be fixed. For the purposes of this thread, please restrict your reports to severe clipping issues. For instance, your shield is impaling you or your daggers are completely hidden by your coat. Things like hair clipping or minor clipping of weapons into armor are sometimes unavoidable and we appreciate your help in focusing on the major issues.

For issues related to map art, please post in this thread.

LagWars 2 - the real enemy in LV4 is the lag

Lag in several GW2 maps is killing the game itself. It is not possible that in 2020 we can die in game due to lag ... not of an occational lag, but of a persistent lag.

The connection seems satisfactory (120Mb / s in download and 32 Mb / s in upload), no download activity in progress, graphical parameters setting in game "bert performance" ... yet you still manage to die in all the map of LV4.

If I have any lag in the whole world of GW2, then I might think that the problem is mine and my connection and my pc, but it is not. In WvW, during world bosses and in the latest maps full of players for farming they do not have these lag problems.

Maps created during the LV4, now little used today, however, are in constant lag.

Why am I complaining just now? because after a few years I decided to tackle the living story with all my secondary characters and I am realizing how widespread the problem of lag is in GW2.

Who knows if with the release of GW2 on STEAM, these things will improve? we can only hope.

WvW Templates Not Working

At some point while playing WvW for a few hours, my templates no longer allowed me to swap to another template (both build and equipment), even when out of combat, and even at spawn, on a lvl 80 sylvari ranger. I had to go to character select and log back into the character to fix it and give me the ability to click on other templates.

Anyone else getting this bug where the voiceover sounds so distant that's it's barely audible whenever it's the commander speaking or anyone speaking through the communicator?

This event (see title) on Plains of Ashford map is probably stuck. Grawls swarming the Martyr woods, but no champ there, no event. At Temperus point Tesserarius Drivenhail says his "Grawl in Martyr's Woods? Unacceptable!" note, as if event is runing already but it is not and Legionnaire Zagan Bendsteel is standing near near Tesserarius Drivenhail as if there is nothing to kill ... Without this event I have no chance to complete colection for The Dreamer III: The lover

Revenant - Dwarf: Inspiring Reinforcement's hitbox is too low to trigger projectile finishers

The July, 7th 2020 patch had a patch note for Inspiring Reinforcement:

Increased the height of the effect area to prevent it from missing jumping players.

This was a good change, but the height wasn't increased enough. Firing projectiles through the road normally will not trigger the vulnerability effect from the lightning field generated by the road. If you use action camera and aim down at the road, you can trigger projectile finishers, but I don't like using action camera in combat.


Dead End Instance: green star's position

Location: Dead End instance
Access: Divinity Reach, Eastern Commons, Dead End PoI

Description:
a) Being an instance, this location could very well be useful for group RP. However currently, given the geometry of the room, a small character (smallest sylvari female) may well trigger the exit pop up "Leave .. Yes/Close" while just walking in the main room, because the green star is just on the other side of the wall, in the entrance corridor. Perhaps a big norn character would merely have the impression that the pop up triggers when too close to the wall. Again, I'm reporting this one because of RP possibilities that are spoiled.

b) As with some other instances, the location was overseen when seats were implemented. None are functional, not to speak of those that are close to the wall and would trigger the exit pop up anyway.

Suggestion:
a) If possible, move the green star further down the corridor, or else, reduce the trigger's distance to the star for this instance.
b) Add functional seats; not necessarily a new type though.

Hello!
I have problems with legendary weapons.
The information on the wiki.guildwars2 says: "The size of the spirit shark varies depending on the hit-box of the enemy" - https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kamohoali'i_Kotaki

But now it does not work (I append screenshots).
Is that how it should be? Or legendary weapons don't work anymore? Or is it some kind of settings in the game?

UPDATE 2... Bugged: “Distract, Destroy, Distrust” new zone story step

“Enter the Bunker” isn’t completing even after I enter the bunker, interact with all objects, and npc conversations finish.

Update 1-After the 5/27 update it’s still stuck on not completing that 1 required task of “enter the bunker”. The rest was completed. I decided to start a different episode, after a number of tries to reset the story without losing progress, and reselected “No Quarter”. My progress was reset to the previous chapter (Snapping Steel). Just gonna redo it and see if I get stuck at the door phase again.

Update 2- So dropping "No Quarter", selecting another episode, then starting "No Quarter" again worked. Just completed "Enter the Bunker" without issue.

Invisible stuff today: is it just me?

I am aware that sometimes, textures take a while to appear when the game is running slow, but today seems odd. First I was in Straits of Devastation for the daily vista view, went to the airship outside Fort Trinity...but the airship was invisible. Even in the vista. Then I went to iron Marches to kill some branded and farm dust in the northeast while waiting for Nakey the Ley Line Dude. Came across an invisible wall my character could not go through to kill the branded devourer on the other side. (My pet could, strangely. I think it was that gate that only opens for one of the local events.)

But the truly odd one that made me wonder what was going on was, in Lion's Arch, in the Black Lion Weapon showroom, the Ice Reaver and Lorekeeper weapons would not show up at all. No problem with any other weapons. I even went to the vendor and tried to preview the weapons. In the preview panel, my character stood holding totally invisible weapons. Only for Lorekeeper and Ice Reaver.

Strange things are afoot in the Land of Tyria.

Edge of the Mists - Let It Glow achievment bugged

Cannot obtain the achievment Let It Glow after my team take the control of the Altar . I do the event where you need to collect the magic essence from the little elementals and after the scale is full and the event ends there is no light above the altar. When I go at the altar after the event, I see the function to interact with it, but there is no charging, I do not turn in to spark and get immuned for 2 min, and I do not also get the achievment Let It Glow.
